How does dynamic collision monitoring work?
If, for example, during setup the operator presses the wrong axis key and moves the table in the wrong direction, the control monitors the movement and shows an error message if collision threatens.
Dynamic Collision Monitoring Option (DCM)
The DCM monitors the working space of the machine for possible collisions with machine components. The movements of swivel heads and tilted tables are also taken into account. If two objects monitored for collision come within a defined distance of each other, the DCM outputs an error message. The dynamic collision monitoring is active in both the manual operating modes as well as the machine operating modes, and is indicated by a symbol in the operating mode display.
Since the axis traverse speeds of NC machining operations continue to increase, and movements in 5 axes are very difficult to predict, collision monitoring is a useful function for relieving the machine operator and avoiding damage to the machine.
